Although Osprey migrate through our area, they require large nesting sites which can be quite difficult to find.

To attract Osprey, some municipalities have built platforms to encourage nesting. Why? Aside from being local attractions, Osprey are apex predators. Their reproductive success is a good measure of the biological health of an ecosystem. A thriving Osprey population means a healthy ecosystem.

Platforms give Osprey secure locations to build nests and raise offspring. And if you build them, they will come! This Osprey was photographed last week at Cooper Marsh, where multiple platforms have been constructed.
